Paolo Contis admits fear of daughters dating someone like his younger self

Paolo Contis revealed in a recent podcast interview with Tuesday Vargas and Buboy Villar that his greatest fear is his daughters dating someone who resembles his younger self.

During the January 4 episode of “Your Honor,” the “Tahanang Pinakamasaya” host shared his candid thoughts about his daughters entering relationships. While he accepts that it’s inevitable, he expressed concerns about the type of partners they might encounter.

“‘Yun ang number one na ikinakatakot ko,” he said when asked how he would react if his daughters ended up in difficult relationships, similar to what he had with his past partners.

The actor, who has three daughters—Xonia Aitana and Xalene Abriana with ex-wife Lian Paz, and Summer Ayana with LJ Reyes—admitted he wouldn’t want them to meet someone with his younger self’s traits.

“Sasampalin ko agad,” Contis quipped, reflecting on his behavior 10 to 15 years ago. “Sadly, you make mistakes. Now, masasabi ko na ‘yung Paolo mga 10 or 15 years ago, naku. Diyos ko Lord. Sasampalin ko talaga ‘yan.”

At 40, Contis acknowledged that change is an ongoing process, saying he has been working to correct his past mistakes. “I’m 40, and kailangan na ‘yun,” he added.

On the topic of exes, Contis stressed the importance of civility rather than friendship. “For me, hindi ako naniniwala na ang mga mag-ex dapat maging kaibigan. Unless you actually have reasons to be,” he explained, emphasizing that it’s a way to respect current relationships.

The actor, who has been linked to high-profile relationships and controversies, also made headlines last year for admitting that he doesn’t provide financial support to his daughters but is saving money to give them directly in the future.
