Palawan government blacklists Rosmar Tan and Rendon Labador following outreach fallout

Palawan’s Provincial Council has unanimously declared social media personalities Rosmar Tan and Rendon Labador, along with their group Team Malakas, as persona non-grata across the entire province. The resolution was swiftly approved on its first and final reading.

Palawan 1st District board member Juan Antonio Alvarez stated that Rosmar and Rendon insulted the Municipality of Coron and its residents during their visit. The controversy began when Jho Cayabyab Trinidad, a staff member from the mayor’s office, accused the group on social media of exploiting the people of Coron for their vlog during an outreach event.

This accusation led to a heated confrontation between Labador and Tan’s group and Trinidad at the mayor’s office. Alvarez emphasized that while Trinidad’s Facebook post was personal and not an official municipal statement, the group’s reaction was excessive and warranted a lesson. He noted that their act of distributing aid does not justify their actions that shamed Coron residents.

Following the escalation, the group issued an apology on Tuesday morning after Coron municipal council member John Patrick Reyes shared a draft resolution declaring them persona non-grata in Coron. The resolution criticized Labador’s behavior as “disrespectful, inappropriate, and a blatant disregard for proper decorum,” and noted that Tan caused “undue distress and embarrassment” to the mayor’s staff, negatively reflecting on the office she represents.
