Palace confirms Marcos-Robredo meeting during Naga anti-flood check

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is scheduled to visit Naga City this weekend, where he is expected to meet Mayor Leni Robredo, Malacañang confirmed on Thursday.

According to the Palace, Marcos will be in Naga on Feb. 21 to inspect anti-flood operations, including activities involving a creek in the city.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said no further details were provided regarding what the two leaders may discuss during the visit.

“Yun lang ang binigay na impormasyon. Kung ano pa ang mapag-uusapan nila, abangan natin,” Castro said.

Robredo and Marcos have been politically linked for years, dating back to the 2016 vice presidential race, where Robredo defeated Marcos by a narrow margin. Marcos later questioned the outcome and filed an electoral protest, which became a long-running national case until it was dismissed by the Presidential Electoral Tribunal in 2021.

Their political rivalry remained a defining part of recent Philippine elections, especially during the 2022 presidential race, when Robredo emerged as the leading opposition candidate while Marcos secured the presidency by a wide margin.
