Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has achieved an impressive milestone by ranking among the top ten most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region for the year 2023, surpassing many Southeast Asian, Chinese, and Australian carriers.
In December 2023, PAL secured the second position for punctuality in the Asia-Pacific region, with an impressive 83.08% of its flights arriving on schedule. This recognition was revealed in the recently published Cirium On-Time Performance Report, with only a Thailand regional airline surpassing PAL’s performance.
For the overall year 2023 rankings, PAL secured the eighth spot among the Top Airline Performers in the Asia-Pacific region and proudly stood as the only Philippine carrier in the top ranks.
PAL’s achievement comes after consistently high ratings for five consecutive months:
- In September and November 2023, PAL secured the third position with 84.27% and 83.38% on-time arrival performance, respectively.
- In October 2023, PAL ranked fourth with 82.74% on-time flights.
- In August 2023, PAL held the seventh spot with 75.36% on-time flights.
For the entirety of 2023, PAL maintained an impressive on-time arrival performance of 77.46%, covering approximately 105,000 recorded flights across its global network. This accomplishment surpassed the regional average of 73.51% for 3.76 million individual flights operated by airlines in the Asia-Pacific region.
PAL’s President and COO, Capt. Stanley K. Ng, expressed gratitude to customers, stakeholders, employees, and government authorities for their support and collaboration. He also acknowledged the need for continuous improvement, stating, “We acknowledge that there is still room for improvement. I assure our passengers that the Philippine Airlines team will work even harder to sustain and improve our current performance.”
The top ten list for 2023 also featured airlines from Japan, Thailand, India, New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Hong Kong, further solidifying PAL’s commendable position in the Asia-Pacific airline industry.
