The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that typhoons could continue entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) until the first quarter of 2025 due to ongoing La Niña-like conditions. According to Analiza Solis, the Climate Monitoring and Prediction Chief, these conditions are promoting cloud formation over the western Pacific, heightening the possibility of storms over the coming months.
Although the period from January to March typically experiences fewer typhoons, Solis highlighted that weather disturbances could still occur during these months through March 2025. Earlier predictions had indicated a potential delay in La Niña’s arrival, with a 55% probability of its formation by late 2024, persisting into early 2025.
