The Philippine National Police (PNP) has confiscated illegal drugs valued at P39.8 billion through various anti-narcotics operations conducted under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., according to a report from the PNP.
From July 1, 2022, to October 7, 2024, the PNP carried out 109,694 operations, leading to the seizure of around 5,205.88 kilos of shabu worth P35.42 billion. Other confiscated drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, Ecstasy tablets, and ketamine, accounted for an additional P4.46 billion.
PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil commended the efforts of law enforcement, stating, “I commend all our officers for their steadfast efforts and tireless commitment to this achievement.”
During the two-year period, authorities arrested 137,190 drug suspects nationwide. The PNP, under Marcos, has shifted its focus toward high-value targets and drug sources, aiming to curb trafficking while emphasizing the preservation of life—differing from the aggressive approach of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Since Marbil assumed office six months ago, the PNP has seized illegal drugs worth P17.2 billion and arrested 30,888 individuals in 25,312 operations. The PNP Drug Enforcement Group led the operations, seizing P13.77 billion worth of drugs, followed by Calabarzon police with P10.39 billion and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region police with P5.82 billion.
Marbil emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law, saying, “As we continue to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs, we remain firmly dedicated to preserving life.”
