P230,000 in financial assistance granted to returning female OFWs in Central Visayas

The Department of Migrant Workers in Central Visayas (DMW 7) has provided a total of P230,000 in financial assistance to returning female overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as part of the Balik Pinay, Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH) Program.

According to a SunStar Philippines report, the aid distribution took place on Monday, March 17, 2025, and was conducted simultaneously across the country in line with National Women’s Month celebrations. The BPBH Program aims to help female OFWs establish or sustain their own businesses.

OIC Regional Director Maria Eloida Cantona acknowledged the support of partner agencies, including the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 7, the Department of Manpower Development and Placement-PESO Cebu City, PESO Carcar City, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) 7, in making the initiative possible.

One of the beneficiaries, Teofila Aras from Carcar City, Cebu, plans to use her grant to start a school bag and garment tailoring business. She expressed gratitude to DMW and OWWA for their continued assistance in her transition back home.
