OWWA urges OFWs to use e-card for ID and partner discounts

Overseas Filipino workers with active welfare coverage can now streamline transactions and access partner discounts through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration’s e-card, which the agency is urging members to use more widely.

According to OWWA-Ilocos Region labor communications officer Rubylyn Munar, the digital credential functions as a government-issued identification for active OFWs. It is recognized at migrant workers offices and Philippine posts overseas, reducing the need for multiple documents during routine processing.

Beyond identification, the e-card is positioned as a practical membership tool. Munar said it confirms an OFW’s active status and enables access to discounted services offered by accredited partners, including airlines, hotels, and cargo providers.

“They can avail discounts of up to 50 percent in various partner establishments,” she said.

OWWA is finalizing agreements with both renewing and prospective partners, and an updated list of participating establishments will be released once these arrangements are completed.

For those who prefer a physical version, Munar said the e-card ID can be obtained free of charge at designated OWWA facilities. These include OFW lounges at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals 1 and 3, the OWWA National Capital Region office, and the Seafarers Hub in Makati City.

“They just have to show their proof of membership and in 15 minutes they already have their ID,” she added.

The e-card carries the same two-year validity period as OWWA membership. As of January 28, OWWA data show 109,769 active members in the Ilocos Region out of a total 478,441 registered members in the area.
