The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has officially announced the latest batch of scholarship qualifiers for Academic Year 2025–2026, naming 1,000 successful applicants under the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and 20 qualifiers for the Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP).
In a public statement on social media, OWWA extended its congratulations to the new scholars—fondly called “IskOWWAs”—marking this milestone as a significant step toward achieving their dreams and securing a brighter future for their families.
“Mainit na pagbati sa 1,000 qualifiers ng Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) at sa Top 20 qualifiers ng Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP)!” the agency wrote. “Isang malaking hakbang ito tungo sa katuparan ng inyong mga pangarap—tagumpay ninyo ay tagumpay ng inyong pamilya at ng buong pamilyang OFW!”
The EDSP Category 2 is granted to deserving dependents of active OWWA members who are currently in their 2nd to 5th year in college and have maintained a general weighted average of at least 85 percent. Scholars under this program receive ₱60,000 per academic year, renewable based on their academic standing.
Meanwhile, the CMWSP is a highly selective program designed for dependents of OFWs pursuing science and technology-related courses, with a similar annual grant of ₱60,000. Applicants must pass a qualifying examination administered in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and meet strict academic requirements.
Both programs are part of OWWA’s broader efforts to support the educational aspirations of OFW families and to invest in the next generation of globally competitive Filipino professionals.
For Academic Year 2025–2026, OWWA received a remarkable number of applications for its flagship scholarship programs. A total of 8,600 applicants vied for a slot in the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP – Category 1), while the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP) drew 13,667 applicants under Category 1, and 8,522 more under Category 2. These figures reflect the growing demand among OFW families for accessible and quality education through government support.
Online applications for these scholarships were opened from July 16 to July 31, 2025, via scholarship.owwa.gov.ph, with a limited number of slots available for both grants.
