The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has urged overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to help maintain cleanliness in the dedicated OFW Lounges at Philippine airports, highlighting that small acts of discipline can go a long way in helping fellow travelers.
“Para sa ikabubuti ng lahat, panatilihin nating malinis at maayos ang ating mga #OFWLounge. Tandaan na ang maliit na disiplina, malaking tulong sa kapwa kababayan,” OWWA said in a recent advisory on social media.
Lounges exclusively for OFWs
The OFW Lounges, located at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 and 3, are free facilities created to provide comfort to departing migrant workers. The lounge in Terminal 1 opened in January 2024, while the larger one in Terminal 3 was inaugurated in July 2024 with a capacity of around 200 passengers.
Both lounges offer comfortable seating, complimentary snacks and drinks, Wi-Fi, and charging stations. Access is free for OFWs upon presentation of valid documents such as an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC), passport, and boarding pass. In some cases, immediate family members are also allowed entry.
More amenities on the way
Authorities have also announced upgrades to the NAIA Terminal 3 lounge, which will soon include rest beds, massage chairs, shower facilities, and a luggage locker area—features meant to assist OFWs with long layovers. Similar facilities are being planned for Clark, Cebu, and Davao international airports.
