OWWA opens scholarship applications for OFWs and dependents for 2025-2026

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has announced the opening of applications for its scholarship programs for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents for the 2025-2026 school year. The application period for the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and the Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) will run from November 4 to 29, 2024, according to an official OWWA Facebook post.

These scholarships aim to provide significant financial support for incoming college students who are dependents of OFWs. To qualify for the EDSP, applicants must be Grade 12 graduating students with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 80 percent and must have no failing grades. Recipients are required to enroll in a college or university within the Philippines.

The CMWSP, on the other hand, is available to OFWs who wish to continue their college education or to their unmarried children or siblings who are no older than 21. Applicants for the CMWSP must have a GWA of at least 85 percent with no failing grades and must come from families with an annual income of no more than USD2,400. This program focuses on students who plan to pursue science and technology-related courses. A comprehensive list of approved courses is available at PSHS List of Approved Courses for CMWSP.

Both scholarship programs provide successful applicants with annual financial assistance of up to PHP60,000 to help cover tuition and other educational costs. Applicants are required to submit Form 137/10 or Form 138, including Grade 11 records that meet the specified GWA criteria, or a certificate of grades.

OWWA emphasized the importance of having an active OWWA membership for a smooth application process. “Paalala lamang mga Kabayan na dapat active OWWA member si OFW at pwedeng magcheck or magpa-validate ng status ng OWWA membership sa pinakamalapit na OWWA Regional Office sa inyong lugar para sa smooth na online application,” OWWA noted.

Eligible applicants can submit their forms through the OWWA scholarship portal at OWWA Scholarship Portal.
