OWWA opens new regional office in Koronadal to strengthen services for OFWs

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in SOCCSKSARGEN now have easier access to government services following the inauguration of the new Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 12 office at the Prime Regional Center in Carpenter Hill on August 8, 2025.

The launch was led by OWWA Administrator Atty. Patricia Yvonne M. Caunan, alongside officials from national agencies and OFW groups. She described the two-story facility as more than just an office, but a reflection of the government’s pledge to deliver dignified, faster, and compassionate assistance to OFWs.

“Maganda ang building at buong puso ang serbisyo,” Caunan said, stressing that the office was built with the welfare of migrant workers in mind. She also noted that the project is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring government services closer to Filipinos. “This inauguration of the building is proof that the vision of our beloved President is alive,” she added.

As part of the Bagong Pilipinas framework, Caunan unveiled the expansion of the OWWA e-card program, which will soon provide members with discounts and privileges in various establishments. “Asahan ninyo in the next coming weeks ang anunsyo ng OWWA patungkol sa mga establishments na magbibigay ng diskwento at promotion para sa mga OFW members,” she announced.

She also introduced the upcoming Alagang OWWA Center, a health and wellness hub in partnership with DOH, DSWD, PCSO, and other agencies. The center will offer free diagnostic and laboratory tests, eye check-ups, HIV screening, and affordable medicines for OFWs and their families. “Ito ay matagal nang dapat binigay sa OFW, we take on this challenge and we hope to provide our OFWs and their families the well-deserved medical and health assistance,” Caunan emphasized.

The new Koronadal office will house frontline service counters, assistance areas, and dedicated training spaces, cementing OWWA’s commitment to supporting Filipino migrant workers and their loved ones in the region.
