OWWA highlights key benefits of membership for OFWs and their families

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has once again underscored the importance of being an active member, emphasizing that the ₱1,000 contribution for two years offers critical protection and life-saving support when it matters most.

In a recent Facebook post, OWWA addressed common misconceptions about membership being a waste of money. “Para itong insurance—hindi mo man kailangan ngayon, tiyak na kakailanganin mo sa oras ng pangangailangan,” the post read.

OWWA emphasized that being a member opens access to a comprehensive suite of services, including:

  • Welfare assistance during emergencies or distress abroad
  • Repatriation support in cases of conflict, calamity, or illness
  • Legal help for contract disputes or abuse cases
  • Skills training through TESDA and other partner institutions
  • Scholarships such as EDSP and OFWDSP for OFW dependents
  • Livelihood programs like Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay and reintegration loans for returning OFWs

These programs are part of the government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of Filipino workers overseas and their families back home.

Aside from financial and educational aid, OWWA membership also guarantees 24/7 assistance for overseas Filipinos in distress—including legal, psychological, and medical interventions.

“Kabayan, huwag magpahuli sa impormasyon,” OWWA urged in its post, encouraging members to call the OWWA Hotline 1348 for program inquiries and further assistance.
