The UAE government has extended the grace period for visa overstayers benefiting from the ongoing amnesty program, giving them until October 31 to leave the country. Previously, those granted an exit pass were required to leave within 14 days, but authorities have now provided additional flexibility.
Lt-Gen Salem Bin Ali, director of the client happiness department, confirmed the extension in a Khaleej Times report, explaining that this move is aimed at allowing overstayers more time to arrange their departure without facing penalties. The new exit deadline will be clearly stated on the outpass issued to amnesty-seekers.
Although the grace period has been extended, Lt-Gen Bin Ali urged those affected to leave sooner rather than later, warning that flight ticket prices may increase as the busy winter season approaches. “We encourage amnesty-seekers not to wait until the last minute to avoid rising airfares,” he advised.
The amnesty program offers overstayers the opportunity to regularize their status and leave the UAE without facing fines or legal consequences. This extension provides an additional chance for those affected to plan their exit more conveniently.
