Overseas Filipino seniors urged to claim cash gifts under expanded Centenarians Act

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is urging qualified overseas Filipino seniors to take advantage of the benefits provided under the Expanded Centenarians Act, or Republic Act 11982. This law offers cash incentives to Filipinos who reach milestone ages, expanding beyond the previous coverage of centenarians only.

Under the revised law, Filipinos who turn 80, 85, 90, and 95 are now eligible to receive ₱10,000 each, while those who reach the age of 100 will receive a ₱100,000 cash gift along with a Letter of Felicitation from the Philippine President.

CFO Chairperson Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II highlighted the importance of this initiative, emphasizing that elderly Filipinos, even those living abroad, have made significant contributions to the Philippines. “Our elderly kababayan overseas have made invaluable contributions and have impacted not only the lives of their families back home but also their communities and the Philippine national development. It is only fitting that we honor them through these incentives,” Ang stated.

To avail of the incentives, qualified overseas Filipino senior citizens or their families must submit an application form, a recent 2×2 photo, a copy of a valid Philippine passport or dual citizenship documents, bank account details for the cash transfer, and a full-body picture.

The CFO has called on families of eligible seniors to coordinate with their office or the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate in their area for guidance. The agency also stressed that this initiative is a way of recognizing the lifelong dedication and sacrifices of elderly Filipinos, who continue to inspire their communities both abroad and at home.
