During the Eid Al Adha holiday from June 15 to 18, Dubai’s public transportation system, including taxis and shared mobility vehicles, carried a record 6.7 million passengers, marking an increase from last year’s 6.4 million, reported the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Wednesday.
This year’s figures show significant usage across various transport modes. The metro’s red and green lines accounted for 2.5 million passengers, while trams and public buses transported over 101,000 and 1.4 million riders respectively. Marine transport also saw substantial patronage with 280,000 passengers.
Taxis remained a major component of the city’s transport strategy, serving 2 million passengers, and shared mobility vehicles added another 350,000 riders to the total count. This year’s transport figures represent a 14% increase compared to the 5.615 million riders during the same period in 2022.
