Over 3,000 Sharjah families to receive AED 17,500 monthly under boosted allowances

Sharjah’s Ruler has ordered a significant increase in financial support for low-income families, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring residents enjoy a dignified standard of living.

According to the emirate’s media office, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed that the Decent Living allowances for families with two or more earning members be raised to meet the monthly threshold of Dh17,500. The payments, benefiting 3,162 families registered with the Social Services Department, will start next month, with the total annual cost rising to Dh134 million.

In addition to the financial boost, the Ruler has also ordered the creation of a Social Care Complex in Sharjah’s Al Ruwaidat district. The facility, spanning 140,000 square meters, will bring together various care services in one location, including a home for the elderly, a children’s social care home, Wahat Al-Rushd mental health facilities, and a women’s protection centre.

The complex will also offer essential, recreational, and religious amenities, such as a mosque and a gymnasium, providing a supportive environment for its residents.
