The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) announced that more than 240,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are now holders of the OWWA eCard, a government-issued identification card that gives faster access to welfare services and privileges.
While the OFW Lounge at NAIA Terminal 3 remains the hub with the highest number of eCards released, OWWA confirmed that issuance is now available at its Central Office in Pasay City. The new site opened through a soft launch, where 70 OFWs were able to secure their eCards on the first day alone.
The OWWA eCard serves as proof of active membership, a valid government ID, and in some cases an alternative to the Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC). It also provides access to various partner discounts and helps streamline services for OFWs both in the Philippines and abroad.
OWWA said the expanded access point is meant to make the process “mas accessible, mas convenient” for OFWs who need the card.
