Over 20,200 travellers caught in UAE flight chaos get free meals and hotel stays from the gov’t

Around 20,200 passengers have been processed through the UAE’s airports after flight schedule changes triggered by ongoing regional developments, the General Civil Aviation Authority said.

The state is absorbing all accommodation and hospitality expenses for affected travellers, including meals, refreshments, and temporary lodging, as airlines work through rebooking backlogs under approved operational frameworks.

Transit passengers were transported onward to their domestic destinations, with dedicated procedures in place to clear regulatory requirements without delay.

The GCAA said national carriers and airport operators are functioning in a coordinated manner, with rerouting of select flights between UAE airports and reinforced ground coordination deployed to prevent terminal congestion from compounding disruptions.

Authorities confirmed that monitoring of flight statuses and rescheduling of services is continuous, with a structured return to normal operations planned once conditions allow.

Passengers were urged to track developments through official channels and reach out directly to their airlines for flight-specific information.
