Over 200 OFWs in Central Visayas receive nearly P15 million in aid from DMW

More than 200 overseas Filipino workers and their families in Central Visayas were given a major financial lift as the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW-7) distributed a total of ₱14.9 million in aid this week.

The assistance was released as part of the region’s observance of the 30th National Migrant Workers Day. A total of 219 OFWs and their dependents benefited from the initiative, which took place at the Department of Manpower Development and Placement (DMDP), also known as PESO Cebu City.

Each recipient was granted between ₱50,000 and ₱100,000 through the agency’s AKSYON Fund—short for Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo Para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan—a program that provides immediate support for pressing needs such as medical bills, livelihood projects, and funeral expenses.

Beyond financial relief, the program also featured training on financial literacy, small business management, and migrant rights to equip beneficiaries with long-term tools for financial stability.

Government partners, including Land Bank of the Philippines and the Commission on Human Rights, joined the event, signaling a whole-of-government approach to empowering and protecting Filipino migrant workers.
