In a major crackdown on illegal operations, authorities in Kuwait have arrested 107 expatriates and dismantled 9 bogus domestic help agencies, as announced by the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait via a tweet on October 13, 2023.
The operation, a combined effort of several Kuwaiti authorities, aimed to tackle the rising number of violations pertaining to the Residency and Labor Law. Among those apprehended, one was charged with bribery while 12 faced allegations of engaging in immoral activities for monetary benefits.
Currently, all detainees are under the scrutiny of the Residence Investigation Department. In a separate incident, the Search and Investigation Department apprehended an Asian resident who allegedly tried to bribe an official to secure a driver’s license for a relative. Another individual, who had an outstanding arrest warrant due to absenteeism, was also taken into custody.
Furthermore, nine individuals of Asian descent were arrested in related operations. This group included three women who were accused of partaking in immoral deeds for money. All of them are now in the hands of the relevant legal authorities, awaiting necessary legal proceedings.
