One dead, two injured in Emirates Road crash as Dubai Police urge safe driving

A deadly collision on Emirates Road has reignited concerns over reckless driving, with authorities confirming that failure to maintain a safe distance between vehicles caused the crash that killed one person and injured two others.

The incident occurred last Monday afternoon just after the Dubai Club Bridge heading toward Sharjah. According to Dubai Police, three vehicles were involved, and the accident was triggered by a motorist who did not leave enough space from the vehicle ahead—a frequent and dangerous violation on UAE roads.

Brigadier Jumaa Salem Bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Traffic Department, said the crash was reported at around 1:30 PM. “Initial investigations revealed that one driver failed to leave enough space behind the vehicle ahead, triggering the collision. Tragically, one person lost their life on the spot, while two others sustained injuries ranging from moderate to minor,” he confirmed.

Emergency teams responded swiftly to the scene, where patrols secured the area, rerouted traffic, and allowed ambulances to reach the victims without delay. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital, while the wrecked vehicles were quickly cleared to restore the flow of traffic.

Brig. Bin Suwaidan reminded motorists that driving with caution is not just a legal requirement but a moral responsibility. “Maintaining a safe distance isn’t just a traffic rule — it’s a lifesaving habit,” he emphasized. “Driving carefully protects you, your loved ones, and every other road user.”

Dubai Police continue to roll out awareness campaigns focused on critical violations like speeding, tailgating, and distracted driving. Under federal traffic law, tailgating drivers face a fine of AED 400 and receive four black points on their license.
