A person of Asian nationality lost their life, and another sustained injuries while engaging in sand dune climbing activities in Sharjah, according to local police reports.
Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, highlighted the growing trend of people, especially youngsters, visiting desert areas during holidays to enjoy the rainy weather. He mentioned that these visits often involve riding over sand hills, a practice that has led to numerous accidents, posing serious risks to the individuals involved and others in the vicinity.
The Major General stressed the importance of adhering to safety norms, emphasizing that families frequently visit these areas in winter with their four-wheel drives or motorcycles.
