In a new directive announced on Tuesday by the Royal Oman Police, Oman has halted the conversion of tourist or visit visas to work visas.
Previously, travelers could transition their visit permits into employment visas after arriving in the country. This new rule took effect on October 31.
Additionally, the issuance of new visas for Bangladeshis has been temporarily suspended.
For UAE residents and those from 100 other nations, no visa is required to enter Oman as long as their Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) visa is valid for at least three months.
This list of exempted countries was made public by Oman last year.
In related news, a unified tourist visa system for GCC nations, which consists of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, has been given the green light.
This would allow tourists to traverse the six-member bloc with a singular visa. This initiative is anticipated to be launched as early as next year, as confirmed by a UAE minister last month.
