The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is set to inaugurate an exclusive lounge for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on December 15. This new facility, strategically located near the pre-departure area on the 4th floor, aims to provide a comfortable and convenient space for OFWs while they wait for their flights.
Equipped with essential amenities such as sofas, complimentary Wi-Fi access, a phone charging area, and power outlets, the lounge is designed to cater to the needs of traveling OFWs. OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio, in a statement to CNN Philippines, highlighted the importance of the lounge as a step towards enhancing the travel experience of OFWs. “We want them to feel at home, to grab a coffee for free. No more wondering where to hang out to charge phones or find Wi-Fi; here, the password is readily available,” Ignacio remarked.
Additionally, the Manila International Airport Authority has assured that OFWs will receive assistance during their stay at the lounge. Information desks will be available to provide insights on destinations, resources, and answers to queries related to their work sites.
