OFWs to benefit from faster immigration clearance with new BI-DMW system integration

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will soon experience quicker processing of departure clearances due to the newly integrated systems of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). The integration aims to streamline procedures by allowing real-time data sharing between the two agencies, significantly expediting the immigration clearance process.

According to a GMA Integrated News report, the integration connects the DMW’s Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) system directly with the BI, allowing for immediate verification of an OFW’s employment status. The OEC, also known as the OFW Pass, acts as an exit clearance and employment verification for Filipinos working abroad.

According to the BI, if no issues are found during verification, OFWs will receive their immigration clearance without any delays.

“This partnership between the BI and the DMW is aimed at providing a seamless experience for our modern-day heroes. They can expect more improvements to come, targeting OFWs to provide better experience,” said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.
