OFWs, families receive Christmas gifts from President Marcos and Go Negosyo

Over 400 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families received Christmas gifts and cash prizes totaling P3 million during the Balik-Bayan 2024 event, hosted by Go Negosyo in partnership with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and RFM Corp.

The event, held on December 7 as part of OFW Month celebrations, aimed to support OFWs in their entrepreneurial journeys. Of the total prize pool, P2 million came from the first couple, while P1 million was provided by RFM Corp. Many recipients plan to use their prizes as capital for small businesses.

Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion highlighted the importance of proper guidance for aspiring entrepreneurs. “We don’t want you to spend your savings without proper mentorship. We are here to help you,” Concepcion said, urging attendees to take advantage of the mentorship sessions and learning opportunities offered during the event.

The gathering featured discussions with industry leaders, success stories from entrepreneurs, and free onsite mentorship. Trade Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, CFO Chairman Dante Ang II, and Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano were also present to show their support.

With the theme “Kabuhayan Para sa Kinabukasan,” Balik-Bayan 2024 emphasized collaboration between the government and private sector to empower OFWs and their families. The event also recognized outstanding OFW entrepreneurs through the 2024 Inspiring Balik-Bayan Awards, celebrating their contributions to the Philippine economy.
