OFWs encouraged to secure OWWA e-cards at NAIA terminals for hassle-free services

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is urging Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to secure their OWWA E-Cards at the OFW Lounges located at NAIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. The lounges are open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, extending service hours to accommodate more OFWs.

In an announcement posted on their official social media channels, OWWA highlighted the importance of the E-Card, emphasizing its benefits. “Kung noong 2024 ay mayroon tayong cut-off na hanggang 4 PM o 5 PM sa ating pagkuha ng E-CARD, ngayong 2025 ay pinalawig na natin hanggang 10 PM ang pagkuha ng OWWA E-CARD para mas marami pa sa inyo ang magkaroon ng OFW ID,” the agency stated.

The OWWA E-Card serves as a valid government ID and can also be used as an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) or exit clearance, simplifying the process for OFWs departing the Philippines. It ensures seamless access to OWWA’s programs, including welfare assistance, scholarships, training, and other social benefits.

OFWs with active OWWA membership and a valid Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) or exemption number are encouraged to apply. Additionally, those currently abroad can authorize a representative in the Philippines to claim their E-Cards by presenting a letter of authorization and other supporting documents.

The application process has been streamlined for ease of access. OFWs can visit the OFW Lounge at NAIA, where they will undergo a quick application procedure, including filling out an information sheet, taking a photo, and signing a form. The E-Card is printed and issued on the spot.

OFWs can also apply online via the official portal (ecard.owwa.gov.ph) by filling out the necessary information and selecting their preferred OWWA Regional Welfare Office for card collection.

To further enhance accessibility, the OWWA E-Card is available in digital format through the OWWA Mobile App. The digital version provides the same benefits as the physical card, allowing OFWs to access OWWA services on the go.
