The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is encouraging overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to take advantage of a 50% discount on shuttle services to and from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) offered by UBE Express. This initiative is designed to show appreciation for OFWs and their contributions to the Philippine economy through remittances.
In March this year, Garrie David, president of UBE Express, explained that this discount is a gesture of gratitude to OFWs for their support of the economy. The discount is available to registered OFWs who present identification. Additionally, the initiative aims to alleviate congestion at the airport by promoting the use of shuttle buses.
In response to ongoing issues with transport scams at NAIA, LTFRB chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III has recommended shuttle buses as a safer and more reliable option for travelers. He noted the problem with unauthorized vehicles, or “colorum,” that overcharge passengers.
OWWA administrator Arnell Ignacio also addressed the issue of taxi scams targeting OFWs, warning operators to cease these practices or face consequences.
UBE Express provides shuttle services on various routes to and from NAIA, including PITX, Sta. Rosa, Araneta City Cubao, Ayala Malls South Park, Robinsons Place Manila, Robinsons Galleria, and Victory Liner Pasay. OFWs can register online or walk in to avail of the discount.
