December 17 marks the return of the annual Christmas welcome event for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
This event, titled “Paskong Salubong para sa Bagong Bayani ng Bagong Pilipinas” (Christmas Welcome for the New Heroes of the New Philippines), is spearheaded by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
This traditional event, organized by the government, is a gesture of recognition and appreciation for OFWs returning to the Philippines during the Christmas season.
The practice was temporarily halted during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of the annual festivities, OFWs are greeted with special gifts and loot bags containing candies and educational materials for their children.
