An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in the Middle East hit the jackpot after winning the P37.46-million prize from the Super Lotto 6/49 draw on October 20, during his vacation in the Philippines.
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) confirmed that the OFW claimed his winnings—P37,462,798, less the 20% tax under the TRAIN law—at the PCSO head office in Mandaluyong City. The winner delayed returning to his job abroad to collect the life-changing amount.
The lucky combination—20, 32, 29, 31, 01, 22—held sentimental value for the winner’s family. According to the OFW, the numbers were regularly bet on by his father, who passed the task to him when he became too unwell to visit the lotto outlet himself.
After securing the winnings, the new multimillionaire said he plans to return overseas to formally notify his employer of his resignation.
