OFW who served Omani Royal Family for nearly 40 years dies in Romblon

An overseas Filipino worker who dedicated nearly four decades of her life in service to the Royal Family of Oman has passed away in her hometown in Romblon.

Aurora Regner, 74, died recently after being repatriated to the Philippines in June 2025 due to a heart condition. She had worked as a domestic worker for 39 years, exemplifying the strength and sacrifice of countless OFWs around the world.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed her passing and offered heartfelt condolences to her loved ones. Regner was among those who received medical assistance through the DMW’s Reintegration Program and was treated at the OFW Hospital.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac paid tribute to her long years of service, recalling his memorable encounter with her.

“Naging magaan sa kalooban at nakakataba ng puso ang pagkikita po namin ni OFW Aurora. Masaya po siyang kausap, at very proud siya at ang DMW sa kanyang apat na dekada ng pagiging OFW at pagbibigay ng magandang kinabukasan sa kanyang pamilya,” Cacdac said.

He had earlier expressed plans to personally visit Regner in Romblon, highlighting the department’s commitment to honor long-serving OFWs.

“OFW Aurora, Ma’am, saludo po kami sa inyo. May you rest in God’s eternal embrace,” he added.
