A 46-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Caloocan City suffered a stroke shortly after arriving in Dubai, just as he was about to start a new job as a welder.
The OFW, who had previously worked in Saudi Arabia, had only landed in the UAE when he was struck by a medical emergency. He has been confined in a hospital for over a month since the incident.
Officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) visited him in the hospital recently, offering not just financial aid, but much-needed emotional support.
OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan personally handed over financial assistance on behalf of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and expressed heartfelt concern. “Ipagdadasal ka namin. Ingat ka, para makauwi ka na at makasama mo na ang iyong pamilya,” she told the patient.
DMW Undersecretary Dominique “Nikki” Tutay also extended words of encouragement, urging the patient to stay strong. “Tawag lang po sa MWO. Pagaling po kayo, para makauwi na ho kayo agad. Ingat po palagi,” she said.
