OFW shares how she saved P1 million in just three years abroad

A 27-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) has achieved an incredible milestone—saving P1 million in just three years of working abroad. She recently shared her inspiring financial journey with motivational speaker and financial coach Chinkee Tan, who in turn featured her story on his Facebook page, igniting conversations about disciplined saving habits among Filipinos.

In her message, she highlighted how financial discipline and family support played a significant role in her success.

“Hello, just want to share my story about pag-iipon. Im 27F, single, OFW for almost 3 years na po.

She emphasized how she avoids excessive spending on material things, except for food, where she does not deprive herself.

From small savings to a million

Her P1 million savings consists of emergency funds and personal savings. Additionally, she has invested P100,000 in Pag-IBIG MP2, with a goal of increasing it to P500,000 before maturity.

Chinkee Tan’s impact on her journey

She credits Chinkee Tan’s financial advice as one of her key inspirations, particularly a quote that deeply resonated with her:

“Saving is not just about saving money, it’s about investing in your future and building a life of security and freedom.”

Upon reading this, she became even more determined to continue her financial journey toward financial independence.

“Kaya ngayon mas lalo akong na-inspired mag-ipon. Thank you, Sir Chinkeee!”
