OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Jeddah hailed a success with nearly 4,000 transactions completed

The Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan in Jeddah wrapped up on August 9, 2025, with almost 4,000 transactions processed and more than 1,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) served over two days.

Preliminary figures showed 3,832 transactions completed, covering services such as membership registration, documentary applications, legal aid, contract verification, welfare assistance, and health consultations. A total of 1,183 OFWs participated in the caravan — 535 on the first day, 559 on the second day, and 89 volunteers who also availed themselves of the services after their duties.

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac expressed deep appreciation for the OFWs’ participation, noting that many traveled from distant areas just to access the services. “We will come back. We want to reach and serve even more OFWs, especially those who could not make it this time,” Cacdac assured, earning loud applause from attendees.

The caravan was made possible through close coordination between the DMW, the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah led by Consul General Rommel Romato, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) under Deputy Administrator Ryan Uy, the Migrant Workers Office in Jeddah headed by Labor Attaché Fidel A. Macauyag, and partner agencies including the Public Attorney’s Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Social Security System, Philippine Statistics Authority, LandBank of the Philippines, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG Fund.

Cacdac also commended local civic organizations for their volunteerism, highlighting how groups such as the OFW Council of Leaders, Guardians International, The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Philippine Eagles (Middle East Region–KSA), and the Philippine Nurses Association helped ensure the caravan’s smooth, organized flow. Volunteers received Certificates of Appreciation for their service.

Relaying President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s message, Cacdac reaffirmed that under the Bagong Pilipinas governance, “no OFW will be left behind,” stressing the administration’s commitment to ensuring every Filipino migrant has access to government support wherever they are.
