A Filipino expatriate residing in Dubai for the past 20 years was announced as the latest winner of the weekly Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, held at Dubai International Airport today. Erwin D., 46, takes home a life-changing sum of $1 million.
Working for a company that distributes and retails technology, luggage, beauty, and home products, Erwin has been participating in the lottery promotion for five years. A father of two, he said the win will help him take care of significant life expenses. “This win will help me pay for my mother’s dialysis, the education of my children who are studying here, and hopefully to build my dream house in the Philippines,” Erwin stated.
Other Winners
The Millennium Millionaire draw was followed by the Finest Surprise draw, which awarded luxury vehicles to three other expatriates based in Dubai.
Magnat Babaev, a 53-year-old Russian national, won a Mercedes Benz S500 car. Babaev, who also has been a regular in the Dubai Duty Free promotion for five years, is a captain for a Dubai-based airline and a father of two.
Diptiman Guha, a 52-year-old Indian national, won a Mercedes Benz G 63 car in his first-ever ticket purchase for the draw. Guha, a general manager at a marine services company and father of two, said he was “speechless” about his surprise win.
Another winner, Jitesh, also an Indian national, won a BMW R nineT Pure motorbike. Jitesh was unavailable for immediate comment.
