OFW nanny in Dubai rewarded for safeguarding children from potential threat

The community in Dubai is singing praises for Junaida Fernandez, a 40-year-old Filipina national, whose swift and brave actions led to the arrest of a suspicious man last week.

Junaida, while working as a nanny, captured footage of the man behaving oddly and attempting to touch a young girl’s face.

Her intervention prevented the situation from escalating any further.

“I am very happy that the police caught him so quickly, and that there are no other kids at risk,” Junaida was quoted as saying by Lovin Dubai.

Her vigilance not only brought the matter to the attention of the Dubai Police, leading to the man’s arrest, but also earned her admiration and rewards from various quarters.

Housekeeping Co, in a bid to recognize and reward her valor, welcomed Junaida to their Tadbeer Centre at Equiti Metro Station Exit 2.

They honored her with an award and an array of gifts. Furthermore, Junaida was granted complimentary access to one of Housekeeping Co’s training programs, which will enable her to be KHDA-certified in Child Care at Home.

The Dubai Police also acknowledged her efforts, presenting her with an award for her diligence.

The family Junaida works for expressed their pride in her actions. Having been in their service for over seven years, she was overseeing their two children and their friends when the incident occurred.

They conveyed to Housekeeping Co, “We are so appreciative of the authorities’ quick action on this, and how they and Housekeeping Co have appreciated Junaida as an individual.”

The incident resonated with many in the community, highlighting the significance of community vigilance and the efficiency of the local authorities.

The family added, “In a country that is not your own it is so comforting to have a system in place that acts so quickly, and also people that look out for you and your kids.”
