Officers from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 intercepted a female Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) for presenting a passport with fraudulent details.
The OFW, whose identity is being kept confidential due to local trafficking laws, was attempting to board a Philippine Airlines flight destined for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 17. The records indicated that she was 30 years old and was bound for the Middle Eastern country to work as a housemaid.
However, the alert immigration officers at NAIA noted several inconsistencies in her documentation and referred her for further inspection. Upon further questioning, the woman admitted to assuming her cousin’s identity, revealing her actual age as 20 years old, and confirming she was born in 2003.
Following the revelation, the OFW was referred to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking for a more comprehensive investigation. Her fraudulently-acquired passport has been forwarded to the Department of Foreign Affairs for suitable action.
