The OFW Hospital in San Fernando City, Pampanga, provided medical services to over 86,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families in 2024, showcasing the government’s commitment to supporting migrant workers’ healthcare needs.
Medical Center Chief Dr. Ralph Julius Mendoza reported that a total of 86,371 individuals received medical attention last year. This included 41,282 outpatients, 523 inpatients, and 2,711 patients who required urgent care. Another 41,855 accessed specialized services, including radiology, respiratory care, cardiology, and laboratory tests.
The hospital, equipped with its own pharmacy, supplied necessary medications for patient treatments. It also introduced packages for pre-employment medical examinations and programs for medical assistance and repatriation, addressing the specific needs of OFWs.
In December 2024, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac led the groundbreaking of the OFW Hospital-Bagong Pilipinas Cancer Care Center, an expansion to include cancer care and hemodialysis services for OFWs and their dependents with chronic illnesses.
The facility, classified as a Level 1 Specialty Hospital with a 50-bed capacity, is PhilHealth-accredited, a KONSULTA-provider, and recognized as a Public Health Unit. The management envisions upgrading it to a tertiary center offering advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services for migrant workers.
Inaugurated in 2022, the OFW Hospital continues to be the Philippines’ first dedicated medical institution for OFWs and their dependents.
