More than ₱301,651.60 in unpaid compensation was released to an overseas Filipino worker from Tuguegarao City after his employment dispute was settled through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA), a mechanism designed to resolve labor concerns swiftly without prolonged litigation.
The amount covered outstanding salary, annual leave pay, and wage underpayment accumulated during his overseas employment. Instead of entering a lengthy legal battle, the case was addressed through facilitated dialogue and case handling under SEnA, allowing the claim to be settled efficiently.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) played a supporting role throughout the process, assisting in case facilitation and monitoring while coordinating with the relevant government offices and the Philippine recruitment agency involved. This coordination ensured that the complaint moved forward in a timely and orderly manner, avoiding the costs and delays often associated with formal court proceedings.
SEnA serves as an alternative dispute resolution platform for OFWs, offering mediation-based solutions that aim to balance fairness with speed. In this case, the approach resulted in the full recovery of the worker’s verified monetary claims.
OWWA reiterated its continued commitment to providing assistance to overseas Filipinos, from guidance and mediation to active case follow-up, to help ensure that workers receive the compensation and protection they are entitled to under the law.
