The remains of overseas Filipino worker Mary Jill Muya have been brought back to the Philippines following their transfer from the United Arab Emirates, according to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
The agency said the repatriation was carried out through PAL Cargo on Monday, after which Muya’s body was transported directly to her family’s residence in Iloilo.
“Tinitiyak ng OWWA at Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) na patuloy ang koordinasyon at pagbibigay ng kaukulang tulong sa pamilya ni Mary Jill sa gitna ng kanilang pagdadalamhati,” the agency said.
Muya, who had worked overseas for nearly two decades, was discovered lifeless inside her room in Abu Dhabi on December 31, 2025.
Relatives in Iloilo City had earlier raised concerns over the circumstances of her death, noting that Muya had not mentioned any work-related difficulties and had remained in frequent contact with her family during her years abroad.
Hans Leo Cacdac, secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers, traveled to the United Arab Emirates earlier this month to review the case, which remains under investigation pending the release of a forensic report.
