Nominations now open for Dakilang Manggagawang Pilipino sa UAE 2025

The Dakilang Manggagawang Pilipino sa UAE (DMP) officially launched its fifth season on June 30 with a press briefing that marked the beginning of another inspiring chapter in its ongoing mission: recognizing the silent sacrifices and meaningful contributions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the UAE.

An initiative of the Pinas Group of Companies, DMP began as a simple idea five years ago and has since evolved into a transformative platform that uplifts the Filipino workforce. The award was conceptualized by two passionate women—Ms. Marlyn Castro, CEO and Founder of Pinas Group of Companies, and Ms. Rumelyn Aribon, HR and Marketing Manager—who envisioned an inclusive recognition program that values character over credentials. Unlike traditional awards that focus on titles or academic achievements, DMP honors those who make a difference through their dedication, faith, and service.

This year’s criteria remain rooted in four meaningful pillars: honoring one’s family, performing work with integrity, inspiring the community, and living by faith and purpose. The search is open to all Filipinos in the UAE, regardless of profession or background, who embody the “dakila” spirit in their everyday lives.

Over the years, DMP has recognized remarkable individuals whose stories reflect humility, perseverance, and quiet excellence.

In 2021, Mary Ann Paglinawan stood out as a beacon of strength. An Executive Assistant to the VP of Finance – IMEA, and previously to the Institutional Division Lead – IMEA, she also served as a Marketing Associate at ECOLAB. Beyond her corporate responsibilities, she served as Choir Coordinator at St. Mary’s Church—all while being a devoted single mother of two.

In 2022, Joemar Tagala, a former Etisalat Corporate Sales Executive, was honored for his transition into entrepreneurship as the Managing Partner of Pinas Petals and Blooms. A Household Leader at Couples For Christ in Sharjah, he is also a dedicated family man who balances business success with service and faith.

Federico Dulla Jr., the 2023 honoree, is a multi-awarded UIPS teacher and the current President of the Filipino International Teachers’ Society (FITS) in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. His commitment to education and leadership in the teaching community earned him the DMP recognition.

Most recently, Jonnel Garcia was named the DMP 2024 Grand Winner. A multi-awarded educator, he dedicates his life to teaching Emirati students at a local school in Ras Al Khaimah, nurturing them as future leaders of the country. Beyond the classroom, he is a loving husband and father, exemplifying the “dakila” spirit at work and at home.

With the theme “Bigger, Bolder, More Impactful,” DMP 2025 promises more powerful stories, expanded community partnerships, greater participation, and enhanced rewards for the Top 10 Finalists and the Grand Winner.

The official timeline for this year’s edition began on June 30 with the program kickoff and press briefing. Nominations officially opened on July 1 and will run until August 15. From August 15 to 20, the selection of the Top 20 finalists will take place, followed by the deliberation round with the judging panel on August 24. Online public voting will commence on August 25 and conclude on September 30. The grand awarding ceremony is scheduled for October 12.

The organizers now invite the community to join in the search for the next outstanding OFW who embodies the spirit of excellence, integrity, and service.
