A viral Instagram video showing men getting haircuts while a belly dancer performs nearby has stirred a flurry of reactions online—but contrary to what many users claim, the scene was not filmed in Dubai. As confirmed by Gulf News, the footage originated from a barbershop in Antalya, Turkey.
The clip, first posted by Instagram account TV1 India Live, alleged that a luxury Dubai salon charges ₹47,000 (approximately AED 2,000) for a VIP grooming session that includes live belly dancing. The video quickly spread across social media platforms, collecting over a million shares, 300,000 likes, and 12,000 comments since its original posting on January 28, 2025.
However, closer inspection of the video reveals key inconsistencies with the Dubai narrative. Text seen on the walls and mirrors is written in Turkish—not Arabic or English, the dominant languages in the UAE. Using reverse image search tools, investigators traced the video back to Barbers King, a Turkish barbershop known for its theatrical grooming experiences.
The viral video features no visible branding, signage, or location markers linking it to the UAE. According to Gulf News, there is no evidence that any men’s salon in Dubai offers live belly dancing as part of its grooming packages, nor is there documentation supporting the claimed haircut price tag.
The misattribution underscores how fast misinformation can circulate online, particularly when sensational content taps into stereotypes or exaggerated perceptions. Dubai’s reputation for luxury may have made the claim more believable to some, but this viral barbershop moment was pure performance art—Turkish-style.
