No AED8 peak hour tolls: Salik clarifies viral pricing misinformation

Dubai’s toll operator Salik has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding an alleged shift to dynamic pricing at toll gates across the emirate. The company emphasized that no such plans are in place.

In a statement published by the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) in a Khaleej Times report, Salik CEO Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad addressed the false information. “The publications that are being circulated on some social media platforms are inaccurate,” Al Haddad clarified.

The viral post had outlined supposed changes to toll fees, claiming rates would vary by time of day, with tolls reaching as high as AED 8 during peak hours. Salik has categorically denied these claims, reassuring the public that no adjustments have been made.

Al Haddad urged the public to rely solely on official announcements. “We strongly advise customers and shareholders to refer exclusively to official sources, the DFM and Salik website, for any official updates,” he said, adding that Salik remains committed to transparency and accurate disclosures.

In other updates, two new Salik gates – the ninth and tenth in Dubai – are nearing completion, with operations expected to commence by the end of November. A formal announcement will follow from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Salik PJSC before the gates become active.
