Sharjah Police have reported the tragic death of a nine-year-old Arab boy who was struck by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road on an electric scooter.
According to a Gulf News report, the fatal accident occurred on Thursday morning in the Al Falj area. Emergency responders, including traffic patrols and ambulance teams, rushed to the scene after receiving a report about the incident. The child, who sustained critical injuries, was immediately transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have arrested the driver involved and taken them into custody at Wasit Police Station for further questioning. Preliminary investigations indicate that the boy was crossing the road when the collision happened.
This incident follows a recent safety campaign by Sharjah authorities aimed at regulating the use of electric scooters, bicycles, and motorcycles on main roads and pedestrian areas. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
