New UAE regulation requires women on boards of private joint-stock firms

The Ministry of Economy has issued a new decision requiring private joint-stock companies to allocate at least one seat for women on their boards of directors, Khaleej Times reported.

The rule will take effect from January 2025, following the end of the current boards’ terms. The move aims to boost women’s representation and expand their presence in corporate leadership positions.
