New rush-hour bus routes announced as Dubai updates over 70 existing services

Commuters travelling through parts of Al Satwa, Jumeirah 3 and Al Wasl will see new peak-hour bus services and widespread route adjustments starting January 9, as Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reshapes its bus network to manage heavy demand periods.

The authority confirmed that four directional routes will be introduced to operate specifically during morning and evening rush hours. These services are structured to relieve pressure on existing routes by separating inbound and outbound flows during peak times.

Two of the new services are linked to Route 88. Route 88A will run in one direction from Al Satwa Bus Station to Jumeirah 3 during the morning peak, while Route 88B will serve the reverse direction from Jumeirah 3 back to Al Satwa Bus Station in the evening.

A similar approach will be applied to Route 93. Route 93A will operate from Al Satwa Bus Station to Al Wasl in the morning, with Route 93B handling the return journey from Al Wasl to Al Satwa Bus Station during evening peak hours.

Alongside the launch of the new routes, RTA will implement operational changes across more than 70 existing bus services on the same date. These adjustments include timetable revisions, route realignments, stop sequence updates, depot changes, and the addition or removal of bus stops in multiple areas of the city.

Several routes will receive new stops, including Route 6 with additions near Dubai People of Determination Center and Mayo Clinic, Route 18 along 7A Street, Route 36B and Route 320 in Dubai Outsource City, Route F61 near Al Jassmi Masjid, and Route F55 within the Dubai World Central cargo zone. Route F39 will extend into Oud Al Muteena with three new stops, while Route 55 will expand further into International City’s Greece Cluster.

Other services will see stops removed or relocated. Among the affected routes are 16, 29, 31, 83, DH1, F10, F46, F54, C09, and several feeder and intercity routes. The bus stop serving Max Metro Station for Routes E100 and E201 will be shifted to Al Jafiliya Bus Station, while Routes 12 and 93 will no longer serve the Umm Suqeim Etisalat stop.

According to RTA, the changes are intended to streamline operations, shorten waiting times, and add capacity during periods of high demand. Updated route information and schedules will be available through the S’hail App.
