Beginning January 1, 2026, Emirati passport holders arriving in Georgia are required to show proof of both health and accident insurance at the point of entry, following a directive issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE.
Under the new entry condition, travelers must carry insurance policies that remain valid for the full length of their stay and are written in either English or Georgian. Coverage must meet a minimum value of 30,000 Georgian lari, and the policies must be issued by recognized insurers, whether international or Georgia-based, including those provided through airlines.
The requirement applies only to ordinary passport holders. Emiratis traveling on diplomatic, special, or mission passports are excluded from the measure, according to the ministry.
The rule affects citizens departing for Georgia on or after the start of 2026, regardless of trip duration, and is intended to be verified upon arrival.
The policy shift comes as the UAE continues to hold the top global ranking for passport strength. In 2025, it retained the number one position for the seventh consecutive year in the The Passport Index 2025 published by Arton Capital, a standing maintained despite a broader decline in mobility scores among many major passports worldwide.
