New partnership aims to expand learning resources for Filipino students abroad

In a bid to uplift the educational experience of Filipino students abroad, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has officially partnered with the Philippine Educational Publishers Association (PEPA) to support Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs) with more accessible and culturally grounded learning resources.

The ceremonial signing held Friday marked a key step toward advancing educational quality in PSOs, which currently serve around 25,000 students across 34 schools worldwide. Six more schools are expected to join the network soon.

CFO Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II underscored the importance of continual improvement: “Our Philippine Schools Overseas are already performing well… but there’s always room to raise the bar even higher.” He added, “We want to ensure that every Filipino student abroad has more access to resources because they deserve nothing less.”

PEPA President Jose Paolo Sibal echoed this commitment, saying the group is ready to extend its support to overseas schools. “We want to give them the benefits of our products, workshops, and seminars… so they can enjoy the same benefits and the same freedom of choice with regards to the products and services from the different publishers.”

The partnership is a significant boost to the CFO’s efforts—done in coordination with the Department of Education—to oversee and improve PSOs through policy development, regulation, and cultural programming. The move also aligns with the broader Bagong Pilipinas campaign, pushing for inclusive nation-building that spans beyond Philippine borders.
