Starting October 1, the new management of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will implement higher parking fees for vehicles. In a letter dated September 30, the New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC), a consortium led by San Miguel Corporation, announced that car parking rates will increase to P50 for the first two hours, up from P40. Motorcycles will be charged P20, while buses will pay P100. Additional hours will incur fees of P25 for cars, P20 for motorcycles, and P50 for buses per hour or fraction thereof.
Overnight parking has seen a significant jump, with the new rate for cars set at P1,200 from the previous P300, while motorcycles and buses will be charged P480 and P2,400, respectively.
NNIC, which took over NAIA’s operations on September 14, explained that the adjustments are necessary to maintain and improve airport facilities. The consortium won the airport’s management contract in February and has committed to a 15-year concession, which could extend for another 10 years. NNIC plans to invest over P200 billion in the project, including P122.3 billion for capital improvements.
Among the planned upgrades are expansions to Terminals 2 and 3, repurposing Terminal 4 into a warehouse and office space, and constructing an Airport Express Hotel near Terminal 2. The NNIC will also share 82.16% of its gross revenue with the government as part of its concession agreement.
